In the week ahead; Investors will shift their focus to central banks meeting in Japan, Canada, and the Euro-Zone. From the U.K, the focus will be on the employment report for Dec as well as Manufacturing PMI. The following are the most important events that may affect the market this week:
1- Bank Of Japan Rate Decision.
The Bank of Japan will announce its benchmark interest rate and publish a rate statement on Tuesday at 03:00 GMT…A press conference will be held at 06:00 GMT.
2- U.K Employment Report
- Average Earnings Index +Bonus (Nov) on Tuesday at 09:30 GMT. The forecast is to inch down a bit 3.1%, from 3.2% a month earlier.
- Claimant Count Change (Dec) on Tuesday at 09:30 GMT. The forecast is to fall by 24.5K, from 28.8K in the preceding month.
3- BoC Interest Rate Decision
The Bank of Canada will announce its benchmark interest rate and publish a rate statement on Wednesday at 15:00 GMT. Overnight Rate is expected to remain unchanged at 1.75%. BoC will also hold a press conference at 16:15 GMT.
Later on Friday at 13:30 GMT. Canada will report on Core Retail Sales.
4- ECB Interest Rate Decision
The European Central Bank will announce its benchmark interest rate and publish a rate statement on Thursday at 12:45 GMT. The interest rate is expected to remain the same as the previous month at 0.00%. The ECB will hold a press conference at 13:30 GMT.
5- German Manufacturing PMI
Germany will report on Manufacturing PMI on Friday at 08:30 GMT. The forecast is to rise by 44.5, from 43.7 a month earlier.
6- U.K Manufacturing PMI
- The U.K will report on Manufacturing PMI on Friday at 09:30 GMT. The forecast is to inch up a little bit 47.6, from 47.6 in the last month.
- The U.K will also report on Services PMI on Friday at 09:30 GMT. The forecast is to fall by 49.4, from 50.00 in the previous month.
